FACILITY PLANNING AND FORECASTING RWD consults and customizes computer modeling that can identify and reduce long-term operation costs by calculating life-cycle costs for equipment, materials and finishes. RWD is linked by sophisticated technology as well as a shared mission to use design to help clients achieve their goals and to enrich lives. GREEN BUILDINGS RWD is committed to the success and increased adoption of sustainable and renewable design practices throughout the industry. As part of this effort, we train all new hires in the theory and practice of green building, emphasizing the LEED rating system. We believe Green buildings are not only good for the environment, they also provide immediate and long-term economic benefits for developers, building owners and occupants. RWD has experience across a wide variety of sustainable projects, enabling us to create a detailed databank of cost-effective Green materials, processes and suppliers to assist our clients. From our experience, the costs associated with these projects can be contained to a level comparable to traditionally constructed buildings. As part of our commitment to have a positive impact on the communities we serve, we have launched a broad-based program of initiatives to promote sustainable development practices and to aggressively expand our capabilities and extend our leadership in this growing field. RWD Reaffirms Commitment to Wide Range of Sustainability Efforts We have implemented several strategies that have the potential to significantly green the delivery of our services. Among the strategies we are employing are: New and renovated office designed to LEED standards Purchasing green office supplies Delivering Green training for employees RWD’s electronic facilities management tool that documents a building’s information, including warranties, floor plans, equipment manuals and maintenance schedules serves to streamline information and allow for immediate electronic access to important building information. RWD has made a commitment to reduce the company’s carbon emissions by five percent over the next five years. RWD will achieve this significant goal by reducing electricity consumption in offices and reducing fuel consumption by company-owned and leased vehicles. Each of these efforts supports RWD’s efforts to improve the delivery of service to our clients and advances sustainable building practices and environmental awareness throughout our organization and the industry and also in our personal lives. MISSION CRITICAL FACILITIES RWD believes in collaboration and bringing value to every aspect of a project. In data center facility design, RWD goes beyond the traditional approach for our clients. RWD develops innovative alternatives that make most efficient use of capital while maximizing speed to market. When you partner with RWD, your data center design solution will be based upon the following criteria: RWD's areas of mission critical facility experience and service offerings include: Modular/Hybrid Facilities, Banking Operations Centers, DOT Command and Control Centers, Alternate Design Solutions, Capital efficiency, Scale of deployment, and Speed of deployment GREEN RENEWABLE AND SUSTAINABLE FF&E DESIGN RWD is a GREEN RENEWABLE and SUSTAINALBE full-service design consultancy with a shared appreciation for the creative potential inherent in each phase of the design process. RWD thrives on the exploration of unique solutions, guiding our Clients through each phase from initial idea to reality. Our combined diverse professional experience covers projects of many type, scale, and budget. A green facility also is called a sustainable facility, which means that it’s designed and operated to efficiently maximize resources while creating less of an impact on the environment. A green facility uses less energy and water, and provides better, less toxic air quality to enhance one’s health and improve your community’s quality of life without sacrificing comfort, luxury, or style. Through an integrated approach to design, RWD creates sustainable, beautiful interiors that are cost effective to own and operate. By using our proven methods and practices, your facility will last longer and offer a greater value for many years. Working closely with architectural and engineering partners from a project’s inception, RWD’s consultancy not only composes interiors but also designs furniture and textiles, curates artwork and accessories, defines new spatial programs, creates holistically-conceived branded environments, and researches innovative processes and paradigms. The designs that emerge from its collaborative teams of innovators, researchers, and designers establish THE 21st Century aesthetic to evolve from the particular conditions of each project. The 21st century aesthetic output includes hotels, corporate offices, educational facilities, retail spaces, performing arts spaces, health facilities, laboratories, residential complexes, historic renovations, and exhibition spaces, along with furniture, finishes, and products. The sustainable design process recognizes that building materials—and the energy required to extract or create them—are not infinite and must be carefully considered during all aspects of design and construction, and even post-construction. Additionally, a sustainable building incorporates natural systems from daylight to fresh air, providing a superior environment for the occupants as well as a better long-term contribution to the surrounding environment. A green building is an intelligent building, and energy efficiency building control systems, climatically responsive layouts, and waste reduction principles extend the lifespan of many products and across many categories. RWD consultancy brings a proven track record of completing a wide range of interior spaces on time, within budget and for demanding clients. The firm’s experience includes: Educational Facilities Government / Military Hospitality Restaurants Retail Facilities Residential Historic Restorations Museums/Cultural Buildings Corporate Interiors Medical & Research Facilities Religious Institutions SUSTAINABILITY When it comes to leaving the world a little cleaner, healthier and more plentiful than how we find it, RWD believes that we need to manage all our assets with a view toward the future. The result of this thinking is a business model that emphasizes people as much as environmental performance – otherwise known as the triple bottom line. OUR SUSTAINABILITY VISION STATEMENT RWD will be a sustainable corporation. We engage our employees in more sustainable practices; we initiate and use processes that are neutral or improve our environment; and we utilize our resources in ways that create adaptable and sustainable workspace solutions for our customers. We do all of this globally to protect and restore our environment, create economic value, and support and strengthen our communities. Green Building: Green building is transforming the global construction industry. For RWD, green building is both an opportunity and obligation. To meet the opportunity, we have evolved from being an office furniture manufacturer into a workspace solutions provider. Increasingly our teams are involved earlier in the planning and building process, and our engagement has translated into growth. Our obligation is to support growing numbers of mandatory regulations, product certifications and information requirements related to green building and sustainability initiatives. These require at a minimum additional tracking, labeling, documentation, and control requirements. In the long run, it requires change to business as usual for our industry. Our approach to product development—life cycle thinking—emphasizes the design of integrated, flexible workspace solutions in addition to stand-alone products. As technology changes how people work, RWD’s flexible interiors are poised to evolve and help lead change. SUSTAINABLE PRODUCT AND WORKSPACE DESIGN Objective: Understand, reduce and eliminate the negative environmental impacts from the manufacture, use and end-of-life management of RWD products and workspaces. We believe in life cycle thinking—creating individual products that encompass Design for the Environment (DfE) strategies. We design products that interface and integrate to create a more sustainable workspace environment. The result is interiors that flex and change with an organization and extend the life cycle of the workspace, in alignment with our customers’ business goals. Individual products meet DfE and ergonomic priorities and protocols. For example, materials and chemicals are reviewed against our Red, Yellow, and Green Chemical Assessment. This assessment consolidates internationally accepted information sources to classify materials according to impacts on human health and the environment. Materials are also selected based on recycled content and/or recyclability at the end of useful life. Materials with an existing infrastructure for recycling and products designed for easy disassembly are more likely to be recycled. Our products complement our workspace platform through integrated design, planning and connection logic. Integration builds flexibility and adaptability for design, and reduces redundancies and waste generated by change. RWD products are sustainable solutions when used alone. Used together they create more adaptable, more sustainable work environments. BUILDING SERVICES GROUP RWD’s Building Services Group consists of a diversified team of professionals through all phases of the project, are assuring efficient coordination and integration of services, as well as the best overall solutions to design challenges. The Building Services Group consults to develop solutions based solar heating and cooling for new and existing facilities, modeled energy consumption patterns, forecast probable operating costs, and developed energy recovery systems. It is actively involved in the analysis and adoption of energy conservation building regulations.

  • Anastasia Mihailovskaya Should be a nuclear power station in Belarus? I can’t say ‘yes’ or ‘no’. I have reasons for building a nuclear power station (NPS) and for not doing it. I want to tell you about the effects on the environment and people. The most considerable factors are mechanical impacts on the relief; surface and underground waters contain chemical and radioactive components which can cause diseases or poisoning; emissions and discharges of radioactivity on people don’t pass without a trace; in case of a faded giant people get radioactive emission which can cause serious diseases such as leukaemia, cancer etc; and producing of nuclear bombs is one of the negative factors. But when we compare a NPS and a thermal power station, emissions of the second are much more harmful than of the first. A NPS doesn’t emit CO2, radioactive sulphur etc into the air. It’s an argument for building a NPS in Belarus. Another argument is that a NPS doesn’t use oxygen in its production. Also a NPS can use fuel after recycling and the energy
