About Us: Feed The D will be a tax exempt, nonprofit corporation that serves throughout the city of Detroit Michigan "aka the D". Feed The D's goal is to alleviate hunger in the city of Detroit by hydroponically growing healthy fruits , vegetables, and herbs for people in need. This is not going to be some small charity trying to help a few people. This is a charity and business that will start by feeding the city of Detroit then expanding across the country. Feed The D will be located outside of Detroit due to the pathetic agriculture laws that Detroit has. We will be giving away 50% of our produce to charity and 50% for profit to stay sustainable. Any donated money will be used for charity use only!! The produce we sell will be for profit. Our donated produce will be given to Forgotten Harvest as they are the best at distributing food into the city the same day that our food is picked. Local farming is the future. Feed The D will bring in jobs. Yes you heard me right, Jobs!! Detroit is in strong need of sustainable fresh produce. There is no need to purchase produce from across the country when you can buy local from Feed The D. This being said, Feed The D will need help in the future to employ our urban farming facility. Healthy produce is very important to us. We will only use organic pesticides and high quality plant nutrients "X Nutrients" Why we need your donations. Sadly we do not know of any big corporate companies that want to help us get up and running, so we need your help. All charities are funded through donations. Your money will go straight to helping feed the hungry and help produce locally grown greens. The owner of Feed The D grew up in poverty.. Which is why he started Feed The D. We know exactly how it feels to be in tough situations. Restaurants will be able to purchase fresh greens from us and get it delivered right to their store within 24-48 hours. Or they can come in and pick their own produce. Feed The D will also be an all year round farmers market for the locals to have access to. Our hydroponic pumps will be powered by solar panels and wind turbines. Can you say sustainability baby?! We will also give our customers the option to purchase hydroponic food or soil grown food. Fresh and dried herbs such as basil, cilantro, and parsley will be sold. We will also be making our own dressing made from fresh tomatoes, herbs, and spices. We will have a certified culinarian on staff. Our Supporters. X Nutrients, Serenade Garden, WE DO NOT GROW MARIJUANA For some reason everyone thinks hydroponics means the growth of Marijuana. NO, THAT IS COMPLETELY FALSE. Hydroponics was designed in ancient Egypt to efficiently grow large amounts of FOOD crops not drugs. Yes marijuana can be grown with hydroponics but so can any plant on this planet!
